Portal & Login

What is my TVET student portal PIN and where do I find it? +

Your PIN is a personal identification number used to log into your college's student portal. The default PIN is often your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format (e.g. 15 March 2000 = 15032000).

If you changed your PIN and forgot it, visit your campus admin office in person with your student card or ID to have it reset β€” there is no online reset option on any TVET portal.

⚠️ Never share your PIN with anyone. Your results and personal details are confidential.
The student portal page won't load β€” what do I do? +

Try these steps in order:

  • Switch to Google Chrome β€” most college portals are built for Chrome or Firefox.
  • Try mobile data instead of WiFi β€” some ISPs block certain portal ports.
  • Clear your browser cache β€” press Ctrl+Shift+Delete in Chrome, select cookies and cached files, then reload.
  • Disable ad blockers or privacy extensions β€” these can interfere with older Oracle-based portal systems.
  • If the portal shows "Server Error" or "503", the server may be down β€” wait 30 minutes and try again.
My account is locked after too many failed login attempts. +

After several failed PIN attempts, the portal locks your account. You cannot unlock it online. Visit your campus admin or student support office in person with your student card and ID. They will unlock the account and reset your PIN on the same day. Office hours are typically Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00.

Can I access the student portal on my phone? +

Yes. The portals work on smartphones. For best results use Google Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone. If the site looks broken, open your browser menu and select "Request Desktop Site". Use mobile data rather than WiFi if the page isn't loading.

I keep getting a "Session Expired" message after logging in. +

This happens when cookies are blocked. The portal requires cookies to maintain your login session. Fix it by turning off incognito/private browsing mode and checking that your browser allows cookies. In Chrome go to Settings β†’ Privacy and Security β†’ Cookies β†’ Allow all cookies. Also temporarily disable strict privacy extensions.

Results & Marks

When will my TVET exam results be available on the portal? +

Results are published 3 to 6 weeks after the final exam date. Supplementary exam results take a further 6 to 8 weeks after the supplementary period ends.

The college usually sends an SMS notification when results are published if you registered a phone number. Results are uploaded in batches, so your results may appear at a different time to your classmates' even for the same subject.

My results page is empty or shows "No results found". +

This usually means the wrong year or semester is selected. Try:

  • Use the Academic Year dropdown to select the correct year (e.g. 2025).
  • Try selecting both semesters or "All" if available.
  • Supplementary results often appear under a different semester code to the main exam cycle.

If results still don't appear after adjusting the dropdowns, they haven't been uploaded yet. Check again in 24 to 48 hours.

I think my mark is wrong. How do I appeal or request a remark? +
  1. Contact your college's Student Administration office within 30 days of results being published.
  2. Complete a formal remark request form (available at admin).
  3. Pay the remark fee β€” typically R100 to R300 per subject depending on the college.
  4. If the remark improves your mark the fee is usually refunded.
How do I download or print my official academic record? +

Once logged in, navigate to Student Enquiry β†’ Academic Record. Most portals have a Print or Download PDF button. If not, use your browser's print function (Ctrl+P) and choose "Save as PDF".

For a stamped, official academic record you must request one from the college registry office β€” there is usually a small processing fee.

πŸ’‘ Always save a PDF copy of your results page immediately after they appear β€” portal access can sometimes be restricted during system maintenance.
What does a supplementary exam pass mean for my final mark? +

Even if you score 80% or higher in a supplementary exam, your recorded mark will be capped at 40%. This is official DHET policy for both NC(V) and NATED qualifications. The supplementary exam is purely a pass/fail gateway β€” the capped mark is what will appear on your academic record.

NC(V) & NATED Qualifications

What is the difference between NC(V) and NATED (Report 191)? +

NC(V) β€” National Certificate Vocational (NQF Levels 2, 3, and 4): A 3-year full-time programme. Students must pass all seven subjects including three fundamentals to qualify for a certificate.

NATED β€” Report 191 (N1 to N6): Covers engineering (N1–N6) and business studies (N4–N6). N6 plus 18 months of relevant workplace experience leads to a National Diploma.

What happens if I fail one or more subjects in NC(V)? +

You need at least 40% in each subject to pass. If you fail:

  • You may write supplementary exams (usually January/February for November exams).
  • A supplementary pass gives you a maximum recorded mark of 40%.
  • If you fail the supplementary, you must repeat the entire level β€” NC(V) is a year-based system, not credit-based.
⚠️ NC(V) requires you to repeat the full year if you fail, unlike NATED where only failed subjects need to be repeated.
When are the 2026 supplementary exams? +

Supplementary exams for November 2025 NC(V) and NATED examinations are typically held in January to February 2026. Check your college notice board and the DHET website for official timetables. Registration usually happens in December β€” contact your admin office before the December holiday.

How do I apply for my NC(V) certificate after completing Level 4? +

Once you have passed all Level 4 subjects, visit your campus registry or Student Administration office and request a certificate application. You will need your student ID, academic record, and proof of identity. Certificates are printed and distributed by DHET and can take several months to arrive.

NSFAS & Funding

How does failing affect my NSFAS funding? +

NSFAS has academic performance requirements. If you fail more than 50% of your registered modules in a year, your funding may be suspended or cancelled. NSFAS allows one appeal per student per qualification.

If your funding is at risk, contact your college's Financial Aid Office immediately. Don't wait for an official notice β€” they can assist with an appeal.

ℹ️ NSFAS decisions are made by NSFAS, not by TVET Results. Contact them at nsfas.org.za or call 08000 67327 (toll-free).
Where do I check my NSFAS allowance and funding status? +
  • Log in to the myNSFAS portal at my.nsfas.org.za
  • Use the myNSFAS app on Google Play or the App Store
  • Call the NSFAS helpline: 08000 67327 (toll-free, Mon–Fri 08:00–17:00)
